Windfall Lake Mine Ventilation System, Osisko Mining
Mandate and Objectives
The Windfall mine, owned by Osisko Mining, is located in the James Bay (Eeyou Itschee) territory in Quebec. The underground mine infrastructure required a ventilation and heating system in order to continue exploration work. ASDR was mandated to carry out the design of the ventilation system.
Challenges and Issues
- Optimize the burners’ fuel (gas) consumption
- Reduce project CapEx costs
Solutions and Achievements
Design and carry out the detailed engineering of the ventilation system including:
- Surface electrical distribution
- Control of surface and underground equipment (ventilation)
- Surface distribution container
- Underground control panels
- Manufacture of the surface distribution container
- Connection and wiring of equipment and their instrumentation
- Programming and commissioning of equipment with the site’s electrical equipment team
Selection and purchase of instrumentation and additional control panels
The entire project was carried out for approximately $1M while the CAPEX investment budget was close to $2.5M.
