Modernisation and Re-Start of the Beacon Mill, Monarque Mining Corporation
Mandate and Objectives
The Beacon mill is located less than 10 km from the Beaufor mine, owned by Monarch Mining Corporation. ASDR participated in the modernization and re-start of the ore processing plant. The mandate was to replace the electrical distribution network and implement a new ABB PLC control system and network. ASDR also rehabilitated production equipment and added new equipment and associated structures.
Challenges and Issues
- Short lead times for re-commissioning versus time required for engineering
- Procurement delays and lack of specialized labor due to COVID
- Lack of technical information on existing equipment
