As a Project Buyer, reporting to the procurement manager, you will be responsible for the procurement of specialized process equipment and materials in compliance with the technical specifications provided by the Engineering team. You will be required to negotiate with selected suppliers and evaluate factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required delivery dates and budgets. The Buyer is also expected to negotiate general terms and conditions with suppliers regarding damage claims, equipment warranties, delays, non-conformities, losses, liquidated damages and cancellations. As a member of the ASDR team, you will benefit from the support of experienced and multidisciplinary staff to carry out your tasks.

  • Preparation of bidders list including Supplier prequalification and selection;
  • Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and bid packages for competitive bidding;
  • Bid reception, analysis and redaction of commercial purchase recommendations;
  • Organize and chair commercial and technical clarification meetings with selected Suppliers;
  • Draft Purchase Agreements and Purchase Orders (POs);
  • Change Management (post-award);
  • Invoice verification in compliance with agreed payment milestones;
  • Organize and chair kick-off and coordination meetings with Suppliers (Post-Award);
  • Follow-up on all awards through completion and close out of order;
  • Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, and regulations;
  • Coordination with different departments (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Construction);
  • Recommend enhancements to systems and processes;
  • Work to achieve specific projects milestones and targets.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • BAC or Technical diploma or equivalent training;
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as Buyer or Procurement Agent on mining or industrial projects;
  • Strong working methods and organizational skills;
  • Technical plan reading is an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication in both French and English.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job location: Val-d’Or, Rouyn-Noranda, Laval or Malartic with teleworking possibilities;
  • Flexible for travel to suppliers facilities (USA/ Europe);
  • 40 hours/week;
  • Salary to be determined based on qualifications;
