Gold Project, Eleonore Mine

Mandate and Objectives

Eleonore is an underground gold mine located in the James Bay region (Eeyou Istchee) in northern Quebec. It can extract up to 7,000 tons per day of ore which it processes on site via a crushing, grinding, gravity separation, flotation and cyanidation circuit.

Goldcorp (Newmont) mandated ASDR for the design of surface and underground infrastructures as well as the management of the project as an integrated team. The infrastructures allowed to mine the gold deposit at full capacity. The design had to be optimal and flexible, in accordance with the production capacity from the exploration and production well.

Solutions and Achievements

ASDR was mandated to:

• Perform Project Management as an integrated team with Goldcorp (Newmont) including
  • Cost and schedule control
  • Supervision of surface and underground infrastructure construction works
• Carry out the design and detailed engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil / structure and piping) of the following systems and infrastructure
• Service winch, ramp, portal and shaft
• Remote locking system for production well winches
• Two crushers, screens and silo installations supplying two chimneys as well as a reversible conveyor 
• Building of silos 04-020 and transfer tower CVO-01 05-056 (power, service, instrumentation and automation)
• Underground distribution and storage network for fuel and lubricants (pipes, SATSTAT, etc.)
• Level 690 loading station (measuring box, chute, silos, etc.)
• Level 690 backfill handling system (conveyors, feeder, archway, discharge adjuster, chimney, screen, crusher, silos, etc.)
• Pumping and dewatering system and stations;
• Turnkey supply of ventilation doors and refuge 
• Engineering, manufacturing and installation of water treatment units
• Supervision of the sinking and production phase
• Engineering to support procurement
