As a Project Planner, you will be part of a project team reporting directly to the Project Manager. You will be responsible for monitoring the performance of assigned projects from a schedule perspective and in compliance with the projects reporting and scheduling guidelines and procedures. You will be expected to support the project management team and clients in the development of schedules for capital projects, throughout different project phases: preliminary, design, procurement, construction and commissioning. You will also assist the Sales team in preparation of schedules for proposals for fast track, turnkey type projects in the mining field.

  • Development and alignment of project schedule and project execution plans (pre- and post-award);
  • Assisting in the development of option analysis for project scope and execution plans;
  • Providing scheduling expertise for development of the Project schedules, including support for schedule risk analysis;
  • Developing and maintaining Project schedules for the Project Team;
  • Performing impact analysis of delays and accelerations and as well as impact of critical third party interfaces;
  • Defining the critical and sub-critical path activities, communicating them to the Project Team;
  • Developing and maintaining other schedules as deemed necessary by the Project Team, milestone schedules, 3 week look-ahead schedules, mitigation schedules, manpower curve;
  • Collecting progress updates, applying progress to schedules, re-forecasting resource requirements and achievement of milestones;
  • Reviewing manpower planning;
  • Visiting Project construction sites for closer collaboration with site manager and personnel and follow contractor progress as required; may be required to work turnaround when needed.
  • Implementation of best practices and standards to ensure integrity of data and quality of output.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • BAC or Technical diploma or equivalent training;
  • Minimum 7-15 years of experience as a project planner in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of mining projects (+10M;
  • Strong knowledge of P6 and other project controls tools, software and systems (Ecosys, Aconex, etc.);
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office suite, particularly Excel, and knowledge of dashboard tools (Power BI);
  • Experience in managing schedules for large industrial/construction projects;
  • Experience in the industrial and mining sector with top tier construction / engineering companies and major multi-discipline project environments;
  • Construction / Field experience;
  • Proven leadership skills and abilities;
  • Fully bilingual in French and English.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job location: Val-d’Or, Rouyn-Noranda, Laval or Malartic with working from home possibilities;
  • Flexible for traveling to site (rotation schedule may apply depending on Project);
  • 40 hours/week;
  • Salary to be determined based on qualifications;
